TAS Education Committee project

In addition to curriculum that supports state educational guidelines, is the understanding by the younger generation of New Mexicans that their cultural heritage is a unique treasure to be appreciated and protected for future generations. Visiting with respect and understanding is emphasized at all times.

Most of our major activities these last few years have involved direct contact with students.  Other activities have been focused on more general planning and outreach to the community.

Randy Roch (BLM Education office) explains the Geology of the Rio Grande Valley

Phil Alldritt (TAS Education Committee member and Archaeologist) talks
about gold mining in the Rio Grange Gorge in the 1930's.

TAS volunteer leads students to Petroglyph site.

Carmen Johnson (TAS President and Rock Art expert) explaining to the students
the value and cultural importance of petroglyphs.
