Topic:  A Ritual Site on the Lower Rio Hondo

The presentation will be on the six petroglyph sites that date from the Paleo to the Historic era. Very little occupation in the valley and almost 500 panels I think this site was used as a ritual site ever since Hunter Gatherers arrive in the Taos Valley. I First People created a 'Place' in the Rio Hondo Valley and as people came through they drew on the basalt in the valley as evidence of their presence in the valley. It indicates their territorial holdings. When people settled in a small pit house village in the vicinity of the Arroyo Hondo Church in the 900 to 1100 the sites could have changed to newer meanings.
