Summer Solstice Camping trip

At the ARARA conference in May, Carmen Johnson saw time lapse photographic sequences shot by Ron Barber at Los Alamos of one of the archaic glyphs on the Vista Verde trail, which revealed that the big circle among the archaic designs is actually a calendar marker. At sunrise on the autumnal equinox last September Ron showed a pointer-like shadow moving neatly across the glyph, one ring at a time until it pointed to the very center.  Ron said he is not exactly certain what we will see on the summer solstice but there is one sure way to find out -- go and look.  So, Carmen is proposing an overnight campout at the very nice campground above the Taos Junction bridge on Friday night, June 20th so that we can be at the rock at approximately 6am on Saturday, June 21st.  We would need a volunteer to stake out some campsites early on Friday because the sites are available on a first-come first-served basis.  There are fireplaces so we could cook together Friday night and carpool to the trailhead on Saturday morning.  There is a bathroom and water available in the campground.  Is anyone game for this adventure?  If so, call or e-mail Carmen Johnson so we can try to claim enough tent sites for everyone.  See you there, Carmen (758-7962 or carmenjohnson42@msn.com).
